  • High water fly

Long shot this one, many years ago a chap used to fish the fly (when the rest of us were running a bunch of worms along the slack water by the bank). Very simple set up one fly on a short leader down & across with about 10 feet of line out. It was his fly that aroused my interest (he gave me one that I promptly lost 2 nights later) it was a gold body with a mixture of orange & red in the wing plus the obligatory jungle cock cheeks he told me a ghillie in scotland used to tie them for him. I have tried to tie a replica many times over the years but something seems to be missing. I have never seen the chap since even though he had fished the river for a few years. Anyone any ideas, given the summers we have had for the last couple of years might be a useful addition this year.

It was along those lines, but there is something missing in the dressing, just cannot put my finger on it.
