  • Wake Lure - it's the DB's

    An easy to make wake lure shown to me by a sewin fishing buddy (thanks Rob).
    A similar shape can be seen at the rear end of many a large un-neutered male dog ... hence it was christened the DB's {;

    This is simple/quick/cheap to make, easy to cast, and makes a great wake |\

    Materials required:
    12mm/14mm Pop-Up Cork Balls (used by Carp guys to float bait off the bottom)
    Some stiff’ish narrow’ish bore plastic tubing (biro refill, cotton bud, etc)
    3mm Shrink tube to hold hook used (I used double hooks but will try singles this year)

    Method:
    Drill cork ball(s) and glue in the plastic tube.
    Shrink wrap onto tube and form hook holder at same time over gentle heat.
    Paint if it makes you more confident when using the lure.

    Tip: To get a flat shrink tube to keep the hook oriented I use a flattened end (10mm) of an ally tube as a former when heating the shrink tube.
