  • Malcolm Edwards

I'm sure that many if not most have learnt of the passing of Malcolm Edwards, the doyen of the Rheidol.

I was fortunate enough to spend a couple of days with Malcolm a few years back when Chris Newton was doing an article on him for Trout&Salmon.

He was a lovely guy and deeply passionate about his fishing, if not obsessive, but then aren't we all, at times...

What I really liked about Malcolm was the way he kept things simple. He knew his water extremely well, and would quite literally only fish certain spots of a pool before jumping to the next. He rarely fished anything other than 2 flies; a silver one and a gold one!! He really did keep things simple, and that was part of the reason for his success I'm sure.

He will be missed by many, but perhaps not by the Rheidol sewin that will surely have a safer passing now.

    TT.
