  • Old Dovey / Dyfi photos

    Thought I'd give these old photos an updating.

    On my relentless quest to own every book that has some content referring to sea-trout :> not an easy or cheap task! I got a fabulous lot last year, not so much because of the book, but what came with it.

    The description did state that some old prints came with the book, to which I didn’t pay much notice – I needed (not want! ) the book.
    The prints turned out to be from the early 30’s, of which there were 14 in all. What really made me smile was that I recognised where they were taken! They are all from the Dovey (I’m sure that most of you would have crossed over ‘that’ bridge at some time or other). Turns out that from a personal value the photos are more valuable than the book.

    Thought I’d share some of the prints with you, some great character and period shots.

    Here are some more of the photos that I received. Not as inspiring as the others, but still interesting viewing.

    Great shots TT.|\

    I've got a few old monochrome photos somewhere. I'll have a search; including one shot of a trio of salmon taken during the same era, that weighed 104 lb.

    I think listing 'every book with some sea trout content' merits a thread all of it's own. What do you think?

    PS. I bet I've got some you haven't.~:.

      Hi TT,
      It if fab to see these pictures. One of them I think is a picture of Peter Vaughan (My great, great grandfather, or something like that).

        Elle; would love to see some of those photos at some time please, that sounds like an awesome bag of fish! :}

        As for the books, yes! definitely up for that. Even though mine may pale in comparison to yours, we may be able to find some that we have both overlooked. May be useful for those starting to compile their own collection too. If nothing else, it would allow me to catalogue my collection, which should stop me from buying duplications!!! ~#

        Grunt; thanks for the reply. Would be great to find out if it was your relation! That would be a right find, and bring a great significance to the images.

        Thanks,

        TT.
